  • In December 2023, Stop Energy Sprawl signed onto a filing produced previously by several of its members in the Clean Energy Standard case, 15-E-0302. The filing calls for the Public Service Commission “to engage in rational energy planning based on an understanding and appreciation of technology, economics, the environment, and a respect for both urban and rural communities.” Such an initiative would require supporting a more diverse set of solutions towards achieving carbon-free generation and further recognition of the risk to NY’s grid from over-reliance on intermittent wind & solar.

  • The initial offering on Kris Martin’s blog, SolarDivideNY, is Enough Land — a comprehensive and informative report that addresses the questions:

How much farmland will be required to meet New York State’s Climate Act goals for solar development?

Do we have enough land to build out solar and allow agriculture to thrive?

  • Energy Expert & Engineer Richard Ellenbogen’s video presentation, NY State’s Energy Transition provides an in-depth review on NY’s Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act (CLCPA) and why it will fail to meet its goals and place our grid in peril.

  • In 2022, GlenFARMLand published its seminal whitepaper, “Rural NY for Sale: The assault on rural farmland in Glen and rural New York by Industrial Scale Solar resulting from New York State Legislation, Incentives, and Section 94-C.” The whitepaper explores the cultural, demographic, and legislative factors leading to the proliferation of proposals to sacrifice farmland for large industrial scale solar electric generating plants, with a focus on the Mill Point proposal in Glen, NY.
